Veterans Day

Today, many Americans are honoring men and women, both living and dead, who served in the United States armed forces. This holiday was originally called Armistice Day. It commemorated the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.

Around the country people are honoring our veterans by:

-Attending national and local ceremonies that honor fallen soldiers

-Holding bake sales to raise money for soldiers and their families

-Volunteering at local blood drives

-Writing letters to friends and families serving abroad

-Visiting cemeteries where loved ones are buried
